Eating Low Carbs
Eating low carbs as a lifestyle
One of the major reasons why many of the low carb diets have lost a lot of their initial momentum is because they treated the diets as a quick fix. The diets touted eating low carbs as a means to lose a few extra pounds in the shortest time possible, this inevitably led to many a failure. How could we possibly have believed that after having finished the diet we would still have been able to keep the weight off? It just doesn't make any sense, but we will often believe that which makes us most comfortable and it was good to believe that our weight problems could be solved so easily. But, we have now found out the hard way that eating low carbs for a few weeks is not the answer to our weight problems.
Instead, we need to treat eating low carbs as a complete lifestyle. We need to change the way we live forever, not just for a short period of time. We need to find the happy medium between eating low carbs and getting the proper amount of exercise, something that we can work with for the rest of our lives. We keep on hanging on to the hope that there is a simple and easy solution to any of our major problems and when a company comes up with the answer, no matter how unreasonable it may be, we buy into it. And then we are bound to fail, we are destined to fail because it just is not possible to maintain a healthy weight by going on a crash diet for a few weeks.
If you are committed to losing the weight that is dragging down, then you have to look for the realistic solutions that help you to change your lifestyle. Studies have shown time and time again that those people who take off the weight slowly are much more likely to keep it off and those that take it off quickly almost always gain all of that weight back plus some. Eating low carbs might be a good solution, but if it sounds too good to be true - it is!
