	<title>Low Carb Snacks</title>
	<description>
If you're on a low carb diet and wondering what low carb snacks you can have, then your diet must not be working very well. After all, you aren't supposed to get hungry on one of these!

Low Carb Snacks When You Do Get Hungry
Okay, maybe that introduction was a bit harsh. You're human, and you will get hungry--on any diet. But snacking is difficult to figure out on a diet such as this. Chips, pretzels, popcorn and even fruits that were once popular snack foods are now off limits. They certainly don't fall under the heading of low carb snacks. Manufacturers of chips, pretzels, popcorn and other snack foods have figured this out and made low carb versions of these items. But buyer beware!

Just because these low carb snacks are low in carbs doesn't mean they're good for you. Similar to low fat foods, low carb snacks usually have other additives (and the calories to go with them) to make up for lost flavor. One of the additives is sugar alcohols which are difficult to digest and can cause gas. Generally, if you want these kinds of foods, you should hold off until the maintenance phase of your diet.

To avoid the need for low carb snacks, eat three regular meals a day, and limit snacking to one in the afternoon and one in the evening. And when it comes to snacking, try one of these:

 Sugar-free Jello with fat-free sugar-free whipped topping
 Diet root beer with fat-free sugar-free whipped topping
 Beef sticks or jerky
 String cheese
 Roasted or grilled chicken breast slices (the Southwest seasoned kind are good)
 A can of tuna
 Deli sliced turkey
 Cottage cheese

These ideas for low carb snacks should get you started. Hopefully with all the different varieties of cheese and different flavors of Jello, you won't get bored with these snacks anytime soon.
