Low Carb Shakes

Low carb shakes: A thick, frothy dairy beverage? Not so much. However, low carb shakes do make a good meal replacement.

Low Carb Shakes

It's happened to you before: Your alarm didn't go off, so you woke up late, which set a whole chain of events into motion. You were going to have to forego some of your typical morning routine. When that happens, the first thing to go by the wayside is breakfast. That's why it's good to have a supply of low carb shakes in the refrigerator. In this scenario, you can grab one and go. But low carb shakes aren't meant to replace every meal.

How Low Carb Shakes are Different

When you hear of low carb shakes and you don't know what they are, don't expect them to be the thick and frothy dairy beverages you can get from an ice cream store or fast food place. They're nothing like that. The pre-made ones taste like flavored milk at best and at worst, they taste chalky and a little like flavored water. They can also be consumed at room temperature or cold (although we've found that they're usually better cold). If you expect low carb shakes to be an ice cream-like treat, you'll be sorely disappointed.

If you really want a taste and texture similar to ice cream but you don't want the carbs, try a protein powder that you can mix with low carb milk. there are a lot of low carb shake mixes and protein powders out there that you can put in a blender with a little ice and milk and have a delicious and seemingly more filling meal replacement. But if you have time to make a low carb shake, then you have time to make an omelette, right? Okay, maybe, maybe not. But sometimes low carb shakes like this (made with protein powder or low carb shake mix and actual low carb milk) can be a refreshing breakfast treat whether you're in a hurry or not!
