Low Carb Food
It has gotten much easier to go on a low carb diet, what with all of the low carb food that you can find now in the supermarkets. The packaged low carb food states right on the label how many carbs are contained within and that can make the arduous task of counting carbs a lot more easy. Most of us want ot lose the weight, that goes without saying, but we do not want to spend the time trying to figure out, day in and day out, what exactly we can eat while still sticking to the guidelines established by the diet we have chosen. The producers of packaged and preprepared low carb food have tapped into this laziness and are making a healthy profit with these processed foods.
Truely low carb food
There are a few problems with the packaged low carb food that is available at the grocery store. The first one being that you cannot be sure that what is stated on the label is completely true. The FDA has yet to define what a low carb food actually is and so the manufacturerers can get away with a lot of monkey business. For instance, they are allowed to round the numbers down, so if a product has .7 grams of carb, then the manufacturer can legally define it as having no carbs! These little things can add up over the course of a day. Another probelm is that many of us take these foods as kind of a green light to eat as much as we want and so they are being consumed in large quantities. And since many of these products use fillers like sugar alcohols, the effect on your health may actually be negative.
If we are serous about losing weight and obtaining a more healthy body, then we should take the time and the energy needed to put together a diet plan that is based on naturally low carb food like whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. Concentrate on foods that are as unprocessed as possible and know the difference between good and bad carbs. That way the carbs that you do consume are sure to have added health benefits and you will know precisely what is going into your body.
