Yes, there is really no point in starting a low carb diet if you do not want to keep at it. If there is a special occasion that is coming up or a holiday which you know will tempt you, or you know that you will have to have a slice of that great cake that your aunt makes, then do something about it ahead of time. For a few days before the event and a few days after kick up your exercise routine a bit. It only takes a few extra minutes to burn off the extra carbs.

Don't wait until a better day to do so. The more you feel like you are in control, the better are your chance of sticking it out until the better end. Whatever the reason, set a limit to the weight gain and allow yourself only that much weight to be gained before you buck up yet again, so that it does not spiral out of control.
