Low Carbohydrate Diet
Ah, the ever-popular low carbohydrate diet. What can we say that hasn't already been said?
The Good Points of a Low Carb Diet
There are a lot of positive aspects of a low carbohydrate diet. For example:
- A low carbohydrate diet can help you lose a lot of weight in a little time
- You can burn fat on a low carb diet
- You can have foods on this diet that you can't have on other diets
- Exercising makes a low carbohydrate diet even more effective
That being said, there are a lot of reasons not to go on a low carbohydrate diet.
Side Effects of a Low Carb Diet
Low carb dieting has a lot of side unpleasant side effects, some more serious than others. Here are some side effects you might experience on a low carb diet:
- Bad breath
- Nausea
- Headaches
- Lack of energy
- Constipation
- Moodiness
If you stay on a low carb diet long term and don't take the appropriate supplements, your body is missing out on a lot of key vitamins, minerals and macronutrients. In the long run, this can put you at risk for osteoporosis and even cancer. And if you don't eat lean meat but you do eat a lot of fatty foods, you put yourself at risk for heart disease.
If you absolutely think a low carb diet is the only way to go, do it the right way. Eat lean meats, take fiber supplements, a multivitamin, possibly a multimineral and a calcium supplement. And if you find the energy, why not get some exercise too?
